Look at the determination on his face!
This look and his intensity behind it presents us with many battles. He’s a strong boy, who knows what he wants, and will rarely back down. It can be a challenging little personality to parent, but we are so thankful this is how God has made him. We’re encouraged when we see him make faces like this, because we believe he can fight this CF battle.
I finished reading a book written by a woman who after 19 years of struggling with Cystic Fibrosis needed to have a double lung transplant. The book is about her journey through some really sick times, her great love for the Lord and his sovereignty, and lots of emails from her friends talking about how God used her in their lives.
I thought this paragraph she wrote was really sweet. I pray God would bless Asher with the joy and faith this woman had.
“Maybe I’m closer to the transplant than I can imagine. But at the same time, even if I’m not, I am getting so many opportunities to choose to bless His name (Job 19:25-27). Even when my flesh is so weak, my spirit is so willing to press on. There are times when I just want to give up, when I get so overwhelmed by emotion that I think I’m going to drown. That’s when Jesus comes in, wraps His arms around me, and reminds me that I am loved by the Creator of the universe!”
Amen! What a great reminder of His love for us.
such encouragement knowing that the Lord is with us all the time. Asher is a strong little boy and it shows how he will be able to fight this head on!
Wow, I love that quote. Asher is a tough, determined, strong guy. I can’t wait to see how the Lord is going to use him as he grows up.
I went from smiling (at the picture of Asher’s determined face), to nodding (at the challenges of parenting a strong, opinionated little boy), to crying at that beautiful quote. It sounds like that woman has such strong faith & such a great testimony! What a great prayer for Asher–and all our kids–that God would give them joy & faith, regardless of the circumstance! Thanks for sharing! What a blessing!
I love that picture. Love his tongue, love his little belly hangin out. Love that God gave Asher to you and Jeremy. I can’t think of two people who are more faithful and determined to raise Asher the way God would have you do it. You guys are awesome.
Ok, just realized that his tongue ISN”T out! Wow, missed that one didn’t I?
So awesome how God has created Asher exactly who he is…with just the amount of determination to fight this CF battle head on…and the perfect parents to fight right along side him. Thanks for sharing that quote…amazing the perspective it gives and just another reminder to keep praying for a CURE!!!
I love this post Rachel! This week has been trying for me personally, even though Reese is doing great. I love that determined little face…it’s the same one Reese has and I know she, like Asher, will fight CF! Beautiful paragraph…what was the name of that book again? Take care!!!
Thank you so much for all your prayers for Asher, they are really felt and appreciated! We love you guys!
