Jul 2009
Asher spent about 4 days at his Grandma and Grandpa Olimb’s house all by himself, while Jeremy and I took a little vacation. He did so great while we were gone, and loved hanging out with his cousins, and Grandmas and Grandpas. He even took 3 hour naps, and helped take out the trash. What a guest! Thank you so much to the whole Olimb and Hoverson family for watching our peanut while we got away together.
Jeremy and I spent two nights roughin’ it in the Boundary Waters Canoe Country, and a couple of nights dining and lodging in some nice MN hotel rooms. The roughin’ part was some serious roughin’ in. It drizzled and rained the entire time we were there. It was cold and windy, and we felt like we were on a Survivor episode. Even though we had bad weather, we had a great time together. I told Jeremy the fact that we could still enjoy our time in the midst of everything just proved our love and friendship for one another. Here are a few pictures just to show you our camp (we hauled and canoed everything there, and no it wasn’t easy, ha!). The picture of the fire is the only fire we had the entire time, and that only lasted about 2 hours. It was so hard to find dry wood, and keep up on the fire in the rain. We fished for a couple of hours, but it was raining, and we (Jeremy!) only caught one so that didn’t work so well. Oddly, or perfectly, enough we did see the sunshine for about 20 mins while we were packing up to leave. It was a nice little treat for us. Then it clouded over and started raining again, ha! We were just meant to have bad weather. But, we sure made some great memories together. Oh, and I know some of your were wondering about our bathroom facilities, so here it is in all its glory!
Wow, that’s all, just wow!
Looks like Asher had a blast.
Even though it was rainy and windy and miserable-it still looks beautiful. And the fact that you and J can enjoy yourselves and laugh is so great. Now just don’t go giving Peter any ideas of taking me on some kind of great adventure–ha! Just jokin.
ummm, what is Jeremy spraying in the toilet? Bug spray, air freshener? And talk about lack of privacy! I think I’d rather squat behind a tree! haha.
Gotta give you guys props for roughin’ it in the MN wilderness!
If I’m gonna tent out it has to be next to a cabin with running water and the tent must include an air mattress for sleeping. 🙂
You made it! I am glad that you had a good time together even in the cold and rain. That is a great memory.
How great…and probably so much more fun now that it’s over! ha! Glad you two got to get away even if it was in the cold, wet weather. Asher is the cutest boy…seriously.
love the cute picture of you and Jeremy out there all cuddled up together. That’s alot of love on Jeremy’s part to buy that miniature porta-potty. With that investment, you’ll need to go survivor camping a few more times.
That boundary waters trip is fun…I went in highschool:) You are very blessed to have such a wonderful family so willing to hang out with your son so you and Jeremy can hang out with each other.
It seriously is like a Survivor episode!! My goodness! 🙂 You are one heck of a wife though Rach…I’m not sure Jeff could EVER convince me to take that kind of a trip! 🙂
On a side note, I can’t believe how big Asher is getting!! He is looking like a little boy instead of a baby! How did that happen?!?
OK–I totally missed the whole “canoeing and hauling our equipment” part!!! Are you kidding me?! Not that I should be surprised. You guys are certainly survivors! Yeah for nice MN resorts, though!
It seems that Asher is even more grown-up now that he’s had his big vacay with the cousins & grandparents. 3 hour naps?! Is he bringing that wonderfulness home for you?!
