Asher got to attend a Summer Camp for the month of June, and enjoyed having different themed weeks.  Of course his favorite was pirate week!  We had to go to Party City to buy a pirate costume, but the plan was improvised when I found this Prince of Persia costume on the clearance rack for five bucks, ha!  Daddy made some adjustments and we told him the medallions on the front were gold doubloons from all his treasure hunts.  He was quite proud :).

Punkers.  He’s getting so big and growing beautifully.  I had a clinic appointment with him this week.  These appointments last about 3 hours, so I just have to give a huge thank you to Auntie Lori for taking Asher.  The last time I went with Asher and no Jeremy I wanted to cry, ha!  It was nice to be able to talk with Beck’s doctor and care team while snuggling him.

Quick update on how he’s doing – he’s 17.1 lbs and 25.5 inches!  We’re so thankful for his chubby, delicious thighs!  He is still on a formula that is made up of only amino acids because of his dairy allergy.  We need to wait a few more months before we start adding things back to his diet.  Most kids grow out of a dairy allergy, and we’re really praying this will be true for Beck.

Beck’s chest xrays showed a little inflammation and a little mucus build up in his lower left lung.  We’ve started him on Pulmozyme, and will be adding Hypertonic Saline once a day to his treatment time.  They also put in a request to our insurance company to see if we can get Beck a vest.   This is just crazy to me.  They are starting babies on the vest so much sooner then when Asher was little.  I had to look back and find the blog post when we first started Asher on his vest.  He was 9 months old.  Beck is 3.5 months old.  Crazy.  We’ll have to see if we can get approved, it’s usually a fight since it’s a $20,000 machine.  Pounding Beck by hand is hard work and it doesn’t feel like we’re giving him the best treatment for his lungs.  So, when the vest comes, whenever that may be, it will be a joyful, tearful day.

I just love his little face and expressions and bubbles.

We’re into toys now :).

Free baby pool?  Yes, please!

Memorial Day.  It was the first time Jeremy and I could really sit back and watch Asher play in the pool.  It was pretty glorious.  I love his Tony Hawk twist off the diving board :).

Do you have 2 of the cutest kids or what?!? Love the modified pirate costume. We will start praying for all the details of getting the vest for Beck to work out easily and that you will be able to get it soon!

Hey rachel, we are not using our vest at all right now (praise God!). I have no idea if it is what you are needing or can use with him being so tiny, but you are welcome to using the machine/vest/ all the parts we have for Beck until your insurance does come through. If McKenzie’s vest doesn’t work for Beck, I’m sure it’s oodles cheaper to buy just the vest and then use our machine?? Whatever…we aren’t using it and I’m praying we don’t need to in the future, so you’re welcome to use it if it will help! Let me know!
